Dinghy Stowage

What type of dinghy do you have? and where do you keep it when it's onboard?

I'm going to replace my plastic rowboat with a 16' homebuilt dory that sould weigh in around 175lbs to 200lbs. Currently my plastic boat resides on the bow and to one side. The Dory I'd like to stow on the cabin top.

We have a 12 Achilles Inflatable that ironically we could store on our 32; but on the 42 is a PITA. I would buy the 10' next time.

We also have an 8' Dyer that we carry upside down on the aft cabin like in the early drawings. The boat balances well there (as Bud says- she needs a little more weight aft) and then we tow it around the islands.

We still have the club footed staysail and I screwed up and put a dorade over the forward head with a dorade guard so carrying one there isn't yet feasable.

We're considereing adding a Jungle Gym in the back to carry one around for local sailing then break it down for offshore work.
