Hola again from Guatemala...

I'm again on the Rio Dulce. In fact, like others I've decided to keep the boat on the Rio Dulce as a sort of 'home base'. Fresh water Dockage is cheaper than in the states (check out www.mariosmarina.com as an example of amenities for $150/mo), cost of living is very low and I don't worry about hurricanes anymore. I'm in the midst of a very intriging/interesting culture (Mayans), within a days sail to prisine reefs (Belize/Honduras) and flights to/from the states is very reasonable ($350 R/T to Houston). Now I know why the Rio Dulce is known as 'The river that eats gringos'.

I just got back from spending 3 mos on the hook in the Bay Islands of Honduras (where the cost of living is even cheaper than Guatemala if you can believe that).

If you can keep a secret (I don't want it to become TOO popular I'd say forget the Bahamas/BVI's and come on down to the NW Caribbean!
