W43 Stuffing Box

Dan and Ally Wever

Good Morning Bud, I have the original Owner's Manual for Hiatus, however, the parts breakdown does not show the size of the flax packing that goes into the 1 1/4" propshaft stuffing box. P/N is 15484 from drawing 20035, Rev P., but size isn't given. Dan.

Once Bud gives you the proper size, you might consider using the GFO gortex packing flax. It doesn't require water for lubrication, so, you can tighten the nut down until it stops dripping (just). I've been using it for the past 3 years, no drips.

I'll replace it the next time I haul just to see how it is doing.

Hey Dan and Ally,

I sent you an email. Don't know if you received it. If not email me or call please. 727-842-5087. I've some questions about your AutoProp.

Bud Taplin

I usually use 3/16" teflon impregnated packing on the stuffing boxes. You might be able to fit 1/4" packing in the space though.
