Variations In Westsail 32

MikeM (Guest)

I've come to understand there are variations in design/construction among W32s based on the year built.

One ad I viewed seemed to make a particular point his later W32 (hull #7XX) was clearly superior to earlier ones. Would this indeed be the case?

What improvements were made over the years (and at what points, i.e. years/hull numbers?

Come to the Westsail rendezvous this coming Saturday at Oxford, MD, and we can talk about the differences in the years based on the molds the boats were laminated from.

Basically, the last set of molds, after about hull #625, had a one piece hull mold, and a highly modified deck mold.

If you have purchased a boat, I would appreciate getting the hull number and boat name for my files. I have you on my list of people looking for boats.

As much as I'd *really* like to I can't make it to the rendezvouz this weekend.

I've not purchased one yet. I'm still 'getting my act together'. I'm kinda getting dismayed though as I'm finding W32's are generally on the high side of my boat budget (vs what would be left in the cruising kitty).

I'm not giving up yet though so thanks for keeping me on the 'looking for boats' list

Bud, i am looking at hull #18, a 32. do you know anything about it specifically or what the pluses and minuses of that batch of hulls? its a flush deck model.

I am familiar with that boat. I looked her over in Alameda during the last Westsail rendezvous. Contact me at btaplin@westsail.com, and I can tell you what I found.

FLASH... Large inventory of used sailboat equipment, parts & supplies at great prices. After a 10-year circumnavigation in a Westsail 43, the owners are now clearing out all the excess and getting back to life ashore. Outfit your boat with well-kept equipment and save yourself a bunch of cash in the process!
