W42 Hull

Rob and Janet Sutton

Might you recall the approximate weight of the W42 hull and deck as they came out of the molds (center cockpit)

Also, how accurate would you say the steel punching ballast was dispensed to 11,000? Do you think they were pretty close at the factory? While our ballast had steel punchings, we discovered odd pieces of steel machinery that was thrown in there.

I am starting some weight calculations in the interest of trim and waterline, hence my question.

My current calculations puts a hull+deck weight at about 6,000 lbs. That based on the weight measured by the crane.

Does that sound about right?

I don't think I ever saw any records of the weight of a hull and deck. Usually the weight of the ballast was pretty close, and Westsail purchased barrels of steel punchings, and they were weighed by the supplier.
