Mainsail Swivel Jam Cleat

Mike McCoy

I picked up a nice beefy swivel jam cleat for the mainsail sheet at a local swapmeet. It is on a 1" track.

Thing is, I'd like to install it on the fore end of the port boomkin. If I do, I'll only have two #10 machine screws holding the track to the boomkin. While the screws will be all the way thru the boomkin (with nuts/washers underneath), I'm wondering if this is sufficient.

Mike, I would recommend drilling out the holes to accept 5/16" bolts. #10 sized bolts may not hold in the event of a jibe.
