I am preparing my site for the delivery of my "new" W32 project boat. Could you please tell me if the the boat is centered fore and aft in the wooden cradle shown in the construction manual? Do the corner posts fit snug to the hull or is there room left for blocking?

Bud Taplin

The corner posts do fit close to the hull, with room for a padded piece of plywood. and maybe a wedge here and there. Sorry, I don't have any notes on the dimension from the cradle to the end of the keel.

Would appreciate knowing which W32 you purchased. Hull number especially.

I checked two of the Westsail 32's in a storage yard here in Costa Mesa, one with a wooden cradle, and the other with a steel cradle. On the wooden cradle, the end of the keel is 57" from the back of the cradle. On the steel cradle, the end of the keel is 39" from the back of the cradle.

I think I've found someone to move the boat on a self loading trailer. As such I've decided to use Brownell boat stands. In the marina they have six stands on the boat. Is this sufficient for long term storage on my concrete slab? Is 60" the appropriate height?

Bud Taplin

Three stands on each side would be sufficient. Can't say how high they should be, but the wider the spread on the hull the better. Be sure to chain the stands together after you have the boat set up.
