Spinnaker Sheets

Terence Singh

I plan to fly my spinnaker for the first time next week. It came with Liberate. It is in a sock and in almost new condition. Alas there are no sheets and I need some help with line size and the amount. (Diameter and length) One of the members of the yatch club commented that it was huge and heavy...good to fly in 10 knots plus of wind. I don't know if this has a bearing on the weight of the lines.
Any help would be appreciated.

Good day Terence:

Two things to think of
1.) Watch out for halard chafe at the mast head entrance.

2.) Go with same size poly pro (the same stuff they make ski rope out of "but don't use ski rope") lines will go through your blocks the same as your sheets with 1/3 the weight.. I use 7/16 PP

Best of luck:

Terence Singh

Thanks Norm.
Any idea on how much is needed?

FLASH... Large inventory of used sailboat equipment, parts & supplies at great prices. After a 10-year circumnavigation in a Westsail 43, the owners are now clearing out all the excess and getting back to life ashore. Outfit your boat with well-kept equipment and save yourself a bunch of cash in the process!
