Engine Replacement

Charlie Walters

Hi Bud I am replacing Mellow`s 23hp volvo MD11C with a Sole 33hp. Any advice on putting in new bearers to raise the front feet as new engine has all mounts on same plane. second best type of wood to use to replace boomkin beams? Cheers Charlie

Bud Taplin

There is a good description of my method of reworking the engine beds on a W32 to install a new engine in my Westsail Service Manual. Contact me directly and I will send the information.
The best type of wood to replace the boomkin is stainless steel. Second is straight grain fir.

Rich Morpurgo

is that quarter sawn straight grain stainless steel?

Bud Taplin

No, I prefer knotty pine or balsa wood.
