Look through any West Marine or Boat/US catalogs and talking to riggers you can find a variety of materials, all accecptable for halyards. Sta-Set X, Endura, V-100, Amsteel, and others. Some are pretty pricey. I would be interested in knowing what is out there, what is working, and what is not. Thanks, Jeff

I use plain, old-fashioned 7/16" Sta-set. I bought it by the spool through a local rigging company (at corporate discount through work) for about $250. I use it for everything, sheets and halyards. It holds up well and is a good all-purpose line. Of course, we are just cruising sailors, so high performance isn't a real big issue for us.
