Mainsheet Cam Cleat?

Mike McCoy

This is directed to those with the 'end of boom' mainsheet rigging:

My mainsheet simply exits the portside block on the boomkin and is tied off to the large aft cleat.

It's never really been a problem but I've often wondered about the absence of a cam cleat for the mainsheet on my boat and I've been contemplating adding one (w/ swivel & fairlead) on the boomkin. Just seems like having one would make it more convenient. On the downside it might be a 'toe stubber' when having to work on/around the boomkin.

What do others have/use to belay the mainsheet (if anything)?

Dave King

Ahoy Mike,
I use exactly what you are contemptating, on Saraband. It is mounted on the starboard side and has never been a problem. It certainly is more handy than the mooring cleat.
