W42 Mast Lights

nick cherney (Guest)

Bud,or anyone else,
our W42 has two lights located near the top of the main mast. one is red one is green, they are each 180 degree lights and are mounted on molded in sections of the mast (just like where you would put a winch). They are located verticaly one above the other about 2 feet apart and both point directly up so that they are basically not visible from below but only from above where they apear as 180 degree lights pointing forward. there is a standard masthead light and nav lights on the bow pulpit. I have no idea what these lights are for and no one else seems to either. any ideas?

Red over green lights on the mast was a pattern that identified you as a sail boat 2 decades ago. This pattern of lights is no longer used and could be mis-identified if used today.

FLASH... Large inventory of used sailboat equipment, parts & supplies at great prices. After a 10-year circumnavigation in a Westsail 43, the owners are now clearing out all the excess and getting back to life ashore. Outfit your boat with well-kept equipment and save yourself a bunch of cash in the process!
