Shredded Headsails

Ralph and Sandra Weiland

Though you might want to see what a 70 mph wind does when it gets under roller reefed headsails.

Ken and Debra Bridger

I have seen two of those near us. It always happens between 0030 and 0130 and it is LOUD! Ken

Correction: Roller furled, NOT roller reefed. I believe these are original sails (33 years old). They were restitched (triple) 5 years ago and not a stitch broke. All shredding was along the fabric very close to the stitching. They hadn't been used much in their long life, but... under any circumstances, 33 years is OLD in the world of sails. Looks like Kern here I come. For now the Super Yankee is pulling us along very nicely. Sad, but no tears (and no pun).
