Mold For Fiberglass Hatch Turtle For A W32

Bob Mitchell

I have a mold for a fiberglass hatch turtle for the Westsail 32. I made a very nice sea turtle from it. I had the mold completely repaired by our local boatyard fiberglass wizard. It is sitting in my garage and my wife has decreed that it must go so that she can put her car in this winter. If someone wants it, they can have it for the cost of shipping via UPS, plus the $170.00 that I paid the last guy for it.

I can be reached by e-mail at <rbmitchell@pullcom.com>

Hey Bob, I'm interested in the mold - What did it cost you to build the turtle for your boat and where are you located? (for shipping calculations) Do you have any photos of the hatch turtle you made? Thanks, Fred Cheney

That mold was being passed around for just the cost of the shipping.....what happened here?

Bob Mitchell

I DO NOT KNOW WHY THE LAST USER CAHRGED ME THE $170 FOR THE MOLD PLUS THE SHIPPING. I WILL NOTE, HOWEVER, THAT THE MOLD WAS IN SOME DISREPAIR AND I ALSO PAID A FIBERGLASS EXPERT A COUPLE HUNDRED MORE DOLLARS TO BRING IT BACK TO PAR. I HAVE NOT ASKED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THAT EXPENDATURE. I DO NOT HINK THAT RECOVERING MY INTIAL COST IS UNFAIR THOUGH. THERE IS A PROBLEM THOUGH, I AM MOVING IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THE MOLD MUST GO, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. DOES ANYONE WANT IT? IF SO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY PICTURES OF THE FINISHED PRODUCT AND SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE TIME RIGHT NOW. IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO SEE IT GO TO WASTE. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I AM MUCH MORE THAN SATISFIED WITH THE TURTLE.

I'm still interested in the mold - Where are you located? I'm in central east coast FL - wondering what the shipping charges would be, and if anyone around here that is also interested in making a turtle would want to split the costs w/ me...
Thanks, Fred Cheney

Did you ever get that mold? I am interested in it...especially after removing the rotted companionway hatch cover.

No Jeff, that is the last I've heard of it - I'm still interested also though - Are you still out there Bob Mitchell?

AJ Hicks

R.I.P - I just got a message that the turtle has died before anyone would come to it's rescue and claim it. It was buried in a proper landfill of unknown location.
