Mounting Radar On Mast.

David Beardsley

Hi Bud,
Maybe you can tell me what what placement on the mast works best for a 24 inch dome. I had thought to place it just above the spreders.
I see that some of the other westsail on your forsale site have them mounted below the spreders, is this to give more room for the staysail rigging? Thanksfor any info. David.

A radar dome on the mast is usually mounted so it clears above the staysail stay. That way the staysail will go all the way up.

Thanks Bud,
Now I'm not sure if I ordered a long enough cable.
How far is the staysail stay above deck?

30' from the mast base to the staysail stay attachment point on the W32. Since the dome is out in front of the mast, the mounting bracket can be lowered slightly so the back side of the dome just clears in front of the stay. Use a bracket that attaches to each side of the mast, and has an opening at the front side of the mast for the stay to pass through.
