Stearns Survival Suit, Never Worn (i'm Too Tall!)

well, they say up to 6'3"- but they lie. I'd say 6'2" max. only tried on once, never in the water- basically brand spankin' new. $460 westmarine last summer, i'll take $300.

I work on tallships and have participated in teaching several basic safety training courses. Immersion suits are best when a bit tight and, while uncomfortable while out of the water, especially for taller people, they're much more reasonable when "in use". The neoprene has an initial elasticity that "gives" after a bit, and once wet the entire suit tends to take a better fit to one's form.

I hung out in one for four hours in a 34 degree pool during some training and, being 6'2", I felt it at first. But after a while, you come to love the fit and warmth.

Just food for thought.

Fair leads,
Aaron N
