I am in the process of having a dodger installed. The mainsheet track sits forward of the cockpit in front of the companion way. I would like to extend the dodger further astern to give better protection. I have a very substantial stainless steel boomkin. I have seen some 32's with the mainsheet attached aft to the boomkin. Is there a disadvantage to this set up? Would I be better off placing the mainsheet forward of the dodger? Are there plans in the Westsail archives for either setup? Eventually I will add a boom gallows and a bimini with side curtains for those rainy days here in the Northwest.

I have pictures and parts available for either location for the mainsheet. They are well described in the current edition of my Westsail Service Manual.
I can send you some pictures if you contact me directly at btaplin@westsail.com
