Electric Windlass

J. Bruce Payette

Has anyone replaced their manual windlass with an electic one? I'm getting too old to do it by hand anymore, and I found the Lofrans Tigres would be the right power, but the footprint would mean reconfiguring my bowsprit. Any suggestions??

Make up a saddle to go over the bowsprit and bolt through the sides of the bowsprit. The top of the saddle should have the footprint of your new windlass, and bolt the windlass to it. Can be made easily from aluminum, or with difficulty from stainless.
