I bought a used Chris Craft 8 step ladder similar to the H & L ladder, but I suspect lighter, as I believe it is mahogany rather than teak. I am going to experiment with various placements around the midship location mentioned above, but I just wondered which side is traditional/desirable. Also, does anyone have any advice about whether to use screws to mount the hardware in the hull versus bolts through the bulwarks under the caprail. The plates with the eyes to hook the ladder into (like 1122 in the photo above) have three screw/bolt holes rather than four in the H & L, but are otherwise similar.

FLASH... Large inventory of used sailboat equipment, parts & supplies at great prices. After a 10-year circumnavigation in a Westsail 43, the owners are now clearing out all the excess and getting back to life ashore. Outfit your boat with well-kept equipment and save yourself a bunch of cash in the process!
