Frank, for the aft mounted Dog-n-Dive platform ladder on the boomkin you need the 5 step model(66 inches deployed)to get it about 10-12" below the waterline. If you go with a midship mount just in front of the genoa track behind the aft lower shroud you can use a 4 step ladder (45 inches deployed) and be about 10"-12" inches below the water level. With the platform you can pull yourself up on a knee and step up easily from there. You can also stand on the platform boarding your dingy making it much more comfortable and safe. These ladders have a 1" wide nylon tread on the steps. They come with 11 inch and 15 inch wide steps. I went with the wider steps which make a more stable configuration especially for big guys. Cheers, Tom

FLASH... Large inventory of used sailboat equipment, parts & supplies at great prices. After a 10-year circumnavigation in a Westsail 43, the owners are now clearing out all the excess and getting back to life ashore. Outfit your boat with well-kept equipment and save yourself a bunch of cash in the process!
