Bud - I've been working on the engine for a few days. Finally got it running well today, and then almost had a heart attack when the propeller shaft pulled out of the coupling, the key went flying and only the rudder stopped the prop and shaft from sliding further out of the boat. Guess the bolt securing the shaft at the coupling had loosened up over the past year. What is the best way to have a backup way to stop the prop shaft sliding out? Is there some sort of security collar? This easily could have happened underway, and I'd like a backup. Tightened the bolt back down, there is a little hole through the top of the bolt itself, but I can't see how to secure it from turning itself loose either?
Thanks,
Colleen
