I've been carrying a piece of wood around with me that I inherited with the boat and I can't figure out what it might be for. Everyone I've asked seems to think it must be something 'unique' for a Westsail.

It's a piece of solid 3/4" mahogany, 12" wide and 6 1/4" tall. It appears it fit behind/in a 10" W opening as the back/outside edges aren't varnished, i.e. only the visible part was varnished. There is a 1 1/2" W X 5" 'notch' cut out the center, with rounded corners at the top and with the bottom of the notch below the edge of whatever it was behind. The top (& notch) is bullnosed.

Any idea what this piece of wood could be for?
