There is an explanation of the hull numbers on Page D-1 of my Westsail Service Manual. The WSSK denotes the boat went out as a kit, but unknown as to how much was done by Westsail, and how much left for the owner. The 0479 is the hull number, and when Westsail was laminating the 32's at the Wrightsville Beach plant, they were assigned some of the numbers in sequence. The last 4 numbers 0975 denote that the hull was laminated in September, of 1975. Or at least, the laminating shop was given the order in September.

The Wrightsville Beach plant had their own numbering machine, and their numbers were about 3/4" high. The Costa Mesa plant had a numbering machine with letters about 3/8" high. Some of the first boats laminated by the Wrightsville Beach plant used numbers sent out from the West Coast numbering machine, to further stir the mix. Those boats were probably laminated in the spring of 1974, just after the plant opened up.

On the W43's, they put a 3 after the WSSF or WSSK to prevent the confusion with the W42's.
