I have seen a number of the bobstay fittings eaten up by electrolysis or crevice corrosion. The exterior of the fitting will show the signs of the problem if you inspect it very carefully. If the fitting is constantly underwater, you do have the problem of possible corrosion. A zinc should be kept on the fitting, and replaced regularly. Your choice if you want to replace it now. I do have one of the internal fittings in stock.
