Ennis, I would not worry about the size of the numbers. Just make them at least 3/8" high. The Coast Guard requirement is that they be visible and engraved on the hull.

That bowsprit would have been built and installed by an owner, not by the factory.

Your boat was probably laminated on the West Coast, as in March of 1974 the East Coast plant was just being started.
